Monastery of Santa Maria Assunta

The monastery of the Assumption was built in an area inhabited since Roman times, where recent excavations have brought to light the remains of an agricultural-productive complex. In Late Roman times a cemetery was located here, to which was added a small church. Adjacent to the church in the Lombard era, the early nucleus of the monastic community developed.
It was one of the first monastic settlements of the territory and was included amongst the possessions of the bishop of Pavia. In the XII and between the XV and XVI centuries it was subject to numerous modifications and in 1799 it was suppressed.
