Piani di Barra Archaeological Park
From the beginning of V century AD the area around Lake Como witnessed the foundation of numerous castles; south of the lake the most famous is that of Monte Barro. The Piani di Barra Nature-Archaeological Park occupies a series of flat terraces upon which, from 1986, archaeological work has brought to light the remains of the castle of the Gothic Age. Currently identified are the remains of the settlement area and a defensive system, completely destroyed by a fire around the second half of the VI century.
