Museum of the Società Gallaratese per gli Studi Patri of Gallarate - Archaeological section

The museum, hosted from 1926 in the surviving part of a Franciscan convent dating to the XIII century, preserves objects and documents that relate to archaeology, art and to the history of the territory of Gallarate.
Amongst others, the Prehistoric and Protohistoric section presents material originating from the sites of pile-dwellings on the lakes in the province of Varese, that of the Roman and Early Medieval periods exhibits various finds originating from Castelseprio; amongst these the marble pluteus from the basilica of San Giovanni stands out.
