Civic Museum of Prehistory and Archaeological Park Isolino Virginia

Three pile-dwelling stations situated on the lakes of Varese are included in the UNESCO lists.

The Isolino Virginia, situated on Lake Varese opposite Biandronno, was inhabited from the Early Neolithic period (VII-VI millennium BC) up to the end of the Bronze Age (around the X century BC), a long period in which the population, responding to changes in the water levels in the lake, was frequently forced to adapt and move their dwellings, occupying from time to time other areas on the island.

An open-air educational itinerary greets the visitors. A model positioned lake-side and two sections from the archaeological excavations, exhibited in the museum, allow the public to acquaint themselves with some aspects of the V millennium settlement.
