Civic Museum of Natural History and Monte San Giorgio Visitor Centre UNESCO
In five rooms the museum hosts exhibitions pertinent to every naturalistic aspect of the insubrica region, with particular attention being paid to the area of Monte San Giorgio.
The fossil collection boasts more than 4000 pieces with provenance in Valceresio, in particular from the fossil beds at Ca' del Frate/Besnasca on Monte San Giorgio. The collection is made up above all of fish, crustaceans, reptiles and plants. Especially important are the remains of 6 examples of Lariosaurus valceresii some of which are embryos.
