Paleontological Park

The park illustrates the paleoenvironment from 210 million years ago, when towards the end of the Triassic the majority of Lombardy was occupied by a tropical sea similar in certain aspects to that of the MSG.

In many locations in Lombardy within the black calcareous layers of the Calcare di Zorzino have been found fossil fish, various invertebrates - amongst which corals, echinoderms, molluscs and some reptiles including the flying reptile Eudimorphodon ranzii, the discovery of which has moved back almost 20 million years the moment fixed for the appearance of this unusual group of reptiles. The fossils are displayed in the Bergamo Civic Museum of Natural History.
